What's new in ITIL V3?
ITIL® V3 makes the link between ITIL's best practice and
business benefits both clearer and stronger, taking a lifecycle
approach to guidance instead of organising according to IT
delivery sectors.
The Core Publications
ITIL is now based on a core of five titles:
-
Service Strategy
-
Service Design
-
Service Transition
-
Service Operation
-
Continual Service Improvement
The new approach changes the relationship between IT and
business. Whereas before ITIL worked to align service
management with business strategy, V3 integrates into a single
ecosystem. The interface between old and new approaches is
seamless, and users can build on the successes of V2 by taking
IT Service Management even further with V3.
What does ITIL V3 Certification look like?
The structure of ITIL
V3
ITIL V3 is available at
Foundation, Service Lifecycle and Service Capability levels, as
well as the Managing through the Lifecycle qualification
required to achieve the new diploma. For those with ITIL V2
qualifications who are planning to upgrade, there are bridging
courses available at both Foundation and Manager’s level.
